  11. Get 1/4 cup water
  12. Take 2 tbsp deep fried onion(birista) ,crushed

  14. Get Tamarind - jaggery water( mix together and keep aside)
  15. Prepare 1.5 tbsp tamarind paste
  16. Get 3//4 tbsp jaggery, grated
  17. Prepare 1/2 cup water
  18. Get for the tampering
  19. Prepare 4 tbsp oil
  20. Get 1 tsp black mustard seeds
  21. Get 1 tsp cumin seeds
  22. Prepare 8-10 curry leaves
  23. Make ready 3 cloves
  24. Take 8 black peppercorns
  25. Take 1" cinnamon sticks
  26. Make ready 3 green cardamom

Khatta Kaddu Recipe is a daily cuisine of Himachal Pradesh Cuisine. This dish is very easy and can be consumed with anything and everything. To make khatta meetha kaddu you can use either the yellow peel or the green peel pumpkin. If you are using yellow peel pumpkin then you have to remove the hard peel but.

Steps to make TEEKHE - MEETHE KADDU:
  1. In a pan, heat oil and mustard seeds, when they start spluttering add the cumin seeds and all the tempering ingridients. Saute for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the onion, saute until soft.
  3. Add ginger paste and garlic paste. Saute until onions start to brown slightly.
  4. Add tomatoes and green chillies. Saute for 2 minutes and add red chilli powder,turmeric power,cumin powder and coriander powder along with 1/4 cup water.
  5. Add the pumpkin cubes and salt.Stir and cover.Cook on simmer until pumpkin is half cooked.
  6. Add the tamarind- jaggery water,crushed deep- fried onions and mix well.
  7. Cover and cook until the pumpkin is soft and cooked through. Check seasoning.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Serve hot along with Indian flatbread(rotis).
